Recycled Venues emerged during spring 2006 through collaboration between artists, designers, architects, builders and enthusiasts all with an affiliation to the Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth, mid-Wales. Inspiration was drawn from earlier projects individuals in the team had undertaken, along with the simple ethos that wherever possible structures should be built from reclaimed, recycled, or harvested materials. Ideas were formed sitting around fires, or huddled over a table with a bottle of red.

The group have evolved to the stage where unique one-off structures can be designed and constructed for a particular client or event, or alternatively the design and build can be a partcipatory approach, with recycled venues providing guidance, teaching and support.
